We are currently experiencing difficulty sending email to many email addresses, including @hotmail emal addresses. This extends to any system alerts, message notifications, end of auction messages etc.

Unfortunately our shared server was mistakenly blacklisted by certain email providers, although this blacklist has been removed, this will take 48-72hrs to get removed from all email providers, hotmail seems to be the worst impacted.

In the mean-time we recommend all customers regularly check the status of auctions, bids and messages, until this issue is resolved.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Real Nappy Week 2012 will take place between the 16th and 22nd of April - not long now!

Do you use real nappies on your little one? Why not help spread the word about how fab they are! Here are a few ideas to help promote real nappies in your community:

  • Why not invite a few other mums or dads over a coffee, to share the benefits (and maybe do a quick demo) of washable nappies?

  • Try approaching a local playgroup to talk about washable nappies to others

  • Contact your child's nursery to discuss their use of nappies on their premises; some nurseries have taken washables on board and now use them on all children who attend (whether they use washables at home or not!)

  • If you have older children, talk to other mums with little ones at the school gates about the advantages of using real nappies

  • See if your local real nappy store has any special offers or promotions running during Real Nappy Week

  • Start discussion points, share tips and post positive comments on forums promoting washable nappies

  • Organise a nappucino, nappy fashion show, or cutest in cloth competition in your area, and see if the local press are interested

  • Check out your local nappy network - many run fantastic initiatives, such as Hackney Real Nappy Network's 'Not All Nappies Are Rubbish' stickers for passionate, committed real nappy fans to stick on changing tables around the borough! (see http://www.hackneyrealnappy.net/)

  • Dig out those old nappies that no longer fit baby and pass on to a charity or recycle them via www.usednappies.co.uk

Washable nappies, let's help make a difference...

If you are wondering why you have recently received an invoice when you haven't used the site for some time, it is because we were previously unable (due to PayPal limitations) to send invoices out to customers when their balance was less than £1, therefore if you just owed a small amount, for example 50p, you would not have received a bill in the past. Now, due to very recent changes with PayPal, it is now possible to invoice for outstanding balances as low as 25p, so all customers past and present, have recently been sent an invoice email. We appreciate that for some of you, your activity on the site may have been some time ago (our software is not so sophisticated that it can filter out by time period - all customers with outstanding balances over 25p have been invoiced). It is only due to these recent changes with PayPal that small companies such as ourselves are now able to invoice past customers for small amounts. We appreciate receiving payment for services used. Thank you. Please be assured, it is still free, as it always has been, to list basic auctions on www.usednappies.co.uk and sellers only pay a 5% fee of final sale price (for example - an auction closing for £10.00 incurs a 50p fee) to help cover costs of running the service. Buyers use the site entirely for free. Thank you for using www.usednappies - together by using washable nappies, and then recycling them, we are making a difference for our children.
Ebay still do not allow the sale of used nappies on their site, which is why we set this site up in 2007 when our listings for our daughters' nappies were removed.

Bizarrely, ebay still allow a 'used' category when listing nappies, which are then very likely to be removed by ebay (not sure if you get the listing fee back from them).

We were also shocked to note that ebay have increased their final value fee to 10%, this is in addition to the insertion fees (that has doubled in the last few years!).

It is free to list on www.usednappies.co.uk and we only charge 5% final value fee - if you don't sell it won't cost you a penny.

Washable Nappies Are Best for the Environment Real nappies are up to 40% better for the environment than disposables; a new report from the government has stated. The key finding of the report shows that the environmental benefits are achieved by following simple washing guidelines like: · avoiding tumble drying nappies, · using A-rated appliances and · washing in full loads at no more than 60 degrees These are all measures recommended by nappy manufacturers and commonly used by parents . The report highlights that unlike disposables, washable nappies put parents in control of the impact they have on the environment. Parents using real nappies will also be financially better off. It has long been known that real nappies save parents hundreds of pounds and now this advice on washing methods, which are supported and promoted by the Real Nappy Campaign, will help reduce fuel bills too. The savings in costs and for the environment are even better when real nappies are used on a second child as many families do. Laura Smith, mum to 8 month old Conner said: "We already wash all the family laundry at lower temperatures and don't use a tumble drier. With increasing energy bills I think more people are opting for energy efficient washing options and we're delighted that this report backs up our decision to use washable nappies." An additional concern caused by disposable nappy use, is the pressure on UK landfill sites from the disposal of 690,000 tonnes of nappy waste each year; most of which are landfilled. This issue is not covered by the newly published report yet is still a major concern for consumers and only confirms the environmental benefits of using washable nappies. Jon Rolls of the Real Nappy Campaign stated: "The findings of this report will confirm what many real nappy users already felt to be true; they will also alleviate the confusion caused by the earlier Environment Agency report. The clear message to parents is that by using washable nappies sensibly they are opting for the most environmentally friendly nappy option, and saving themselves money. Washable nappies in all shapes, sizes and designs are read ily available through independent, online and high street retailers" Jon Rolls added: The Real Nappy Campaign clearly has an important ongoing role in continuing the promotion of washable nappies, as well as providing information on how to ensure their environmental impact is minimised. We recognise that real nappy users occasionally find it convenient to use disposable nappies too and we are pleased to see that disposable manufacturers recognise the need to improve the environmental impact of their products. Given the outcome of this report we look forward to constructive dialogue with the disposable industry about how we can help to further reduce the impact of disposables.
